The United Methodist Credit Union was formed by United Methodists for United Methodists. We provide affordable financial solutions to help clergy, laity and local churches. We support the financial needs of our members so our members can continue to support our communities in the best way possible. It’s our way of giving back to our members who do so much for our community. We strive to fulfill John Wesley’s calling to us as United Methodists to “Earn all you can, save all you can, so that you can give all you can.”

Our Story

The United Methodist Credit Union was started in 1952 by a group of Methodist pastors who had a hard time getting by. Many pastors earned low wages, struggled to own homes, and had a difficult time building credit. It was for that reason that this group of pastors founded the Virginia Methodist Conference Credit Union. We have evolved throughout the years having undergone name and logo changes and many structural changes which eventually led to us serving laity.
