Welcome to our New Website!

DECEMBER 20, 2018

Welcome to the new website of The United Methodist Credit Union!  By the way, we call the credit union TUMCU for short (pronounced tum-coo), and you’re more than welcome to call us that, too.

Many of our members don’t realize it, but TUMCU was one of the early pioneers in the digital world.  Actually, we were kind of forced to become digital, since most of our members were pastors who moved around (a lot), and sometimes even went to other states or foreign countries as pastors or missionaries.  It was obvious that we were never going to build branches every place our members went, so we had to bring the branch to them – digitally.

This is what some people used way, way back in the 90’s.

Fun fact #1:  Did you know TUMCU had a website and provided some online functions way back in the last century (that comment was for our younger members).   Seriously, though, we were early adopters of mobile banking, remote deposit capture, and even the use electronic signatures for most of our documents.  In fact, TUMCU is one of the first, if not the first, American credit union to be completely cloud-based.

Oh, you can still visit us if you’re ever in the Richmond area, but isn’t it nice to know that you can work with us from almost everywhere?

Fun Fact #2:  Because of the nationwide digital network we have established, you as a member can access your accounts – with no fee – at over 55,000 ATMs across the country!  And if you need the help of a physical branch?  We have a network of over 5,600 affiliated credit union branches from coast to coast.

Note to those of you under 30: this is what a phone looked like back in the day.

Lastly, you can also use another highly technical device to communicate with us if you need to – the telephone.  And by the way, when you call us (866-657-0004), during business hours, you’ll actually get a human to speak to – that’s right  – an actual human.  You see, one part of technology we have always resisted is the one we all have come to hate – the phone menu.

However you chose to communicate with us — web, mobile app, in our branch, through our network, or on the phone — you should always expect the best of service, because you are our member, and it’s our job to help any way we can.
